Important Information to Note On July 26th, 2023, the General Administration Regulation Wing issued the Muharram Holidays Notification 2023 for the Punjab Government. Holidays on Muharram This notification states that all government departments throughout Pakistan will observe public holidays on Friday, July 28th (9th Muharram) and Saturday, July 29th (10th Muharram).
It’s important to note that mobile phone services offered by Zong, Jazz, Ufone, and Telenor will be suspended during these two days. Additionally, public gatherings in specific areas will be strictly prohibited for security reasons. The government has the authority to impose Section-144 to stop processions, and certain areas or roads may be closed for the safety of Juloos.
Notification Regarding Public Holidays During Moharram 2023
On July 2nd, 2023, the Punjab Government released a press statement instructing all public offices in Punjab to adhere to its contents. The press release, numbered No.SOW-I(S&GAD)1-4/2018(P-III) states that the Government of Punjab will mark July 28th and 29th, 2023 (Friday and Saturday) as public holidays in observance of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram 1445 AH).

Muharram-ul-Haram Holiday Schedule 2023 Holidays on Muharram
This is to inform all employees and workers in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, that both public and private offices will be closed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram in observance of Ashura.
For the year 2023, the Muharram holidays will fall on Friday, the 28th of July, and Saturday, the 29th of July. Additionally, Sunday, 30th July will also be considered a holiday. The following schedule will be enforced for all public and private offices, banks, and departments:
