The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is a public sector university in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, established initially as Jamia Abbasia in 1925 by His Excellency Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi – V. IN 1963 ABBASIA UNIVERSITY BECAME JAMIA ISLAMIA was chartered in 1975 as “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur” by the Provincial Assembly of Punjab under “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Act 1975”.
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Campuses (IUB)
The university has five campuses . Abbasia Campus, Baghdad Al Jadeed Campus, and Khawaja Farid Campus are located in Bahawalpur, and two sub-campuses are located in Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan. To keep pace with the modern demands and changing world, recently, the number of departments has been increased from 26 to 129, offering more than 300 subjects. At present, about 1800 teachers, including 550 Ph.D. We are serving to provide modern and quality education.

The modern form of Jamia Islamia exists today as the best emerging university with the title “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur(IUB)“. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking-202, Islamia University of Bahawalpur ranked 1001+ best in the world, 1st among Pakistani universities in three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 3rd in “No Poverty”, 3rd in “No Poverty”. “I am in fifth place. “Cheap and Clean Energy”. In the UI Green Metric World University Ranking-2020, the university is ranked 25th among 53 Pakistani universities and 637th globally among 1000 international universities.

Scored 100 percent in Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) Online Education Readiness Dashboard, was ranked third in Pakistan in 2019, in the annual research ranking of world renowned Nature Index, and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan I was in 11th position. The university currently has more than 1,800 full-time and part-time faculty members, including 550 Ph.D. There are 126 teaching departments offering about 300 subjects, providing state-of-the-art educational facilities to about 46,000 students. Semester system has been introduced in all disciplines to bring the teaching quality of the university in line with international standards along with the modern curriculum recommended by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
Apart from this, five circle colleges are also functioning which include College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Art and Design, College of Conventional Medicine, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. University campuses established in Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan in 2005, provide local students with quality higher education at their doorstep.
TIMES Higher Education the World University Rankings 2021
The Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2021 has named Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB)among the 1001+ best universities in the world. The World University Rankings Agency uses 13 performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparison. Performance indicators are divided into five areas: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income (2.5%). Seventeen universities of Pakistan participated in this category.
Times Higher Education Word University Subject Ranking
The IUB brand is shining not only nationally but also internationally under the dynamic leadership of Engr. Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob. Islamia University Bahawalpur has participated in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2021 for the first time in its history. According to the Times Higher Education subject rankings, most university subjects are ranked between 600 and 1000. This is a huge leap forward in the teaching and research quality of the university. The major areas in which the university has shown significant progress include medicine and health, engineering and technology, life sciences and physical sciences.
HEC Online Education Readiness Dashboard Ranking 2020
Islamia University Bahawalpur(IUB) has secured 100% marks in Higher Education Commission (HEC) Online Education Readiness Dashboard. The Higher Education Commission has released a ranking of universities in 2020 based on their performance in online classes. Universities were ranked for University Readiness, Course Readiness, Faculty Readiness, Technology Readiness, Library Readiness, Student Readiness, Assessment Readiness and Laboratory Readiness.
Higher Education commission (HEC) Ranking 2016
Islamia University Bahawalpur was ranked 11th overall in the HEC ranking of universities in Pakistan in 2016. For the first time in the history of Islamia University Bahawalpur, IUB participated in the QS World University Rankings. The results of the same are awaited.

Abbasia campus (IUB)
A historic building initially constructed by His Highness Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi – V in 1950 near Government Sadiq Egerton College at University Chowk, Bahawalpur to provide higher education in the heart of the city.
Presently this campus is under the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, Ghulam. Muhammad Ghotvi Hall (a historical hall), Faculty of Law, Banks, Admission Cell, Registrar’s Office, Legal Cell, Examination Division, Accounts Division, Directorate of Outreach, Communications and Public Relations, two student hostels; Abu Bakr Hall for boys and Rabia Hall for girls, two mosques, Medical and Health Division, Transport Division and Transport Division, Sports Ground and University Guest House. University Central Camp House is also located nearby on University Road.
Khawaja Fareed campus. (IUB)
Khawaja Farid Campus was also built by His Highness Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi – V in 1925 near Abbasia High School on Railway Road. Currently, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences are functioning there.
BAGHDAD- UL JADEED CAMPUS (IUB)
Baghdad Al-Jadeed Campus (BJC), also known as Main Campus or BJ Campus, is located on Hasilpur Road, about eight kilometers from the city center. Ten out of thirteen faculties are established in BJ campus.
The campus is covered with proper security wall and along with Vice Chancellor Secretariat, cricket ground, sports complex, squash court, separate study parks for boys and girls, football ground, libraries, e-employment training center, computer labs, Faculty Auditorium, Main Auditorium, Local Market, Grand Jama Masjid, Medical Centre, Employees Residential ColonyDay Care Centre, Student Hostel, Deer Breeding Farm, Research/Experimental Area, Hakra Art Gallery, Plant Nursery, Solar Park, Cut Flower and Fresh Vegetable Farm, Fruit Farm, Fish Pond with Boating Facility, Cafeterias, banks, water filtration plants, uninterrupted power supply, availability of all mobile networks, carpeted roads, clean and green environment and gardens make the environment conducive for educational activities.
Other major campus buildings include Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, Directorate of Information and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Islamic Learning, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Institute Tuet of Business Management and Administrative Sciences, University Model School, and Syed Tabish Alwari Administrative Block.
Rahim yar khan sub-campus (IUB)
The campus is spread over 80 acres of land on Abu Dhabi Road Rahim Yar Khan. Currently, there are 22 teaching departments offering over 44 undergraduate and postgraduate programs in computing, natural sciences, business management economics, humanities, arts and languages.
Bahawalnagar sub-campus (IUB)
Islamia University of Bahawalpur established Bahawalnagar Sub Campus in 2005. The campus is spread over 50 acres of land on Manchanabad Road, Bahawalnagar. Currently, there are 22 teaching departments offering more than 40 undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of Business Management, Natural and Social Sciences, Arts and Languages and Information and Technology.
