University of Education, Lahore, was established on September 02, 2002, to produce dynamic leaders and practitioners in teaching, research, and management with content excellence and pedagogical competence. The university has a highly prestigious governance system that is open and transparent for the stakeholders. All the public affairs and management of public resources are made efficiently and prudently by the Leadership of the Institution. The university has launched a University Management System (UMS) for online admissions, registration, and recruitment system. This system was a major step towards promoting transparency in all university processes. At present, the university has the honor of admitting 25000 students in various disciplines. To ensure equitable access to higher education, the university is awarding 3086 scholarships to needy students in 2018-19.

The influence of libraries in the education system is beyond question. In 2016, all university processes were manual and time-consuming. Since then, the university has focused exclusively on the automation and upgradation of its central library. In this regard, the library portal, fully functional library OPAC, and access to the Web of Science, like the HEC database, are important features.
Research activities in institutions pave the way for the development of the nation. The University has endeavored to develop a genuine culture of research in its campuses and affiliated institutes. At the start of this journey in 2018-19, the University produced 450 publications in HEC-recognized journals and submitted 30 research projects to HEC. ‘
The University has established its research linkages with other countries such as China, Turkey, South Korea, USA, and Iran. The University has signed MoUs with AIPS, the University of Applied Sciences, Finland, the University of Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Gambia, and PHEC for professional development and research collaboration of its faculty.
The University excels in imparting training in various fields of teaching, research, and management. Adequate funds are allocated for capacity building of its teaching and non-teaching staff by inviting national/international resource persons. Moreover, the University has trained college teachers with the support of the Higher Education Department of Govt. Punjab and the Government of Gilgit and Baltistan, as well as the services of the University in the development of primary education in the province, are extended. University of Education

University Scholarships
The university awards merit scholarships to meritorious students. The University has allocated Rs. 22.0 million for merit scholarships. Merit scholarships will be awarded to 1st year students on the basis of merit at the time of admission and merit scholarship for 2nd year and for subsequent years on the basis of previous year’s entrance assessment and university comprehensive examination results. where applicable.
